Do you have bad posture or feel “compressed” in your body but don’t know how to change?

 

Everybody knows that good posture is important to our general health.  We all have an innate reflex to be easily up against gravity but most of us interfere with it with habits of compression and collapse.  We often resolve to have better posture but find it to be very difficult for many reasons.  One, we aren’t exactly sure what better posture is, and two, we only look at correcting certain, isolated parts of ourselves (like shoulders back or straight back) while ignoring the rest of the body making it impossible to have good postrue. The Alexander Technique works with the use of the entire body as an integrated unit.  As sensory awareness improves, better posture is the natural result and the old way of doing things becomes the one which is difficult and uncomfortable.
